Reach The Beach
This coming up weekend is Reach the Beach New Hampshire. I did it last year and had an amazing time. This year many of the same people that ran on the team last year are doing it again and I am even more excited for the race. Chris, who I run with a bunch, joined the team for this year so I am super pumped to have a bestie in my van.
I am getting anxious about packing though. I always have slight anxiety about packing as I tend to be an overpacker which tends to be a good thing. Not in this situation. Space in the van is limited and people give you dirty looks if they think you are using more than your share. This year I made the executive decision to get a bigger van so maybe the dirty looks would be kept to a minimum. However I am slightly nervous about the van rental. I called a bunch of different places to get quotes on 12 person van rentals. One place didn’t have any 12 pass. vans but for a regular, non mini van, it would be 680. Another gave me a quote of 790 for the weekend for a 12 pass van. Ouch. Third time, maybe is a charm because they did have a 12 pass. van and it would only be $103 a day and I could drop it off on Sunday instead of being charged an extra day to return it on monday because most places are closed on Sundays. Score. It also included free mileage. So basically for $309 I got a great deal. I kept reiterating that I needed 12 seats in the van to make sure it wasn’t like a painters van or something. I think I annoyed the guy so much because finally he asked if it was my first time renting a car. I said no. Lie. I then explained that the price was SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than other places I received quotes from. He then said, “‘mame they don’t call us Thrifty for nothing.” Touche, car rental guy. Touche.
Here is hoping that I don’t show up on Thursday and its a regular sized van with no seats. I am pretty sure I will lose all executive voting powers with my team over that one!

Sounds fun. I’d love to do a relay sometime. Hmmm maybe next year
