Catamount 5k
3.1 miles – trail race 32:30
Tonight I went to the Catamount Family Fun center and partook in their summer Tuesday race series. I had a blast. But who knew trail running at Catamount was the Hunger Games? Ryan, one of my running buddies, got stung by two or three tracker jackets; aka bees. He still had the stinger stuck in his palm at the end of the race. Despite the bugs, we all had a blast. Ryan dominated with a time of 30:30. Chris and I were neck and neck the whole race but he squeezed in front at the finish line and then Beth was not far behind us two. The four of us agreed it was fun and for six bucks it was a great racing experience.
I have only done a few x-country races and need to do more. It is a totally different experience. The switchbacks and the single file trails and then the wider trails where you need to gun it in order to make any sort of head way and pass anyone. My brain is tired from scheming and keeping a close eye on the trail so I wouldn’t fall on any branches, rocks or divets in the dirt. I have to say I felt pretty bad ass sprinting towards the finish line. I will totally do more of these the rest of the summer and will look forward to them for next year. I might have to buy a pass next year and go every Tuesday. Best track party tuesday workout yet!
