Getting my Strength Back
After last Monday and Wednesdays butt kicking session at Body Pump I knew I had to step it up, not be a sally, and keep going to get my strength back. I woke up on Saturday and headed off to the gym to hit up the Saturday morning class. Sunday I woke up anticipating the soreness that was sure to be there. Nope. I felt great. I skipped Mondays class due to needing to be an adult and go grocery shopping, clean the house etc. etc. etc. However today I went to the class and upped my weights in most of the exercise and was able to keep up and not die durin the whole class. I am definitely anticipating some soreness tomorrow and the next day but it is nice to see that my body is remembering the work that it used to do and is catching up quickly!
Now if only I could get speed in my legs as quickly! I have a goal 1/2 marathon planned at the end of September (Montreal 1/2) and am hoping to get under 1:50. I am definitely hitting up the track sessions, trying to do some hill work and am signing back up for the long run saturday club. Yup, there is a club. A club of one but more are welcome! After my poor marathon debut I really want to focus on gaining speed and strength in my running so that my next marathon is something that I can brag about! Not that finishing a marathon isn’t brag worthy, I just had higher hopes for my finishing time than what it was.
