This is what it’s been like

6 miles – didn’t take my garmin

Today I stayed home from work due to a magnitude of reasons.

1. JET LAG! I was absolutely exhausted due to taking a red eye on Monday night and being completely exhausted with the time change and then the red eye etc.
2. I have had a cold that I can’t seem to shake. I think Alan and I both got one from the flight heading into Colorado and it hit us both on New Years Eve!
3. Waking up in the middle of the night to deal with a mischievous cat! Due to Alan and I getting nailed with a cold and having DayQuil laying around Marley got ahold of one the tabs with the two capsules in it and was playing with it and punctured a hole into the capsule. Needless to say I stayed up nervous that he would get sick. He is fine, but I am tired!
4. I needed to do some stuff around the house and having the above three reasons made it easier to stay home to get the laundry etc done.

So I stayed home and thought maybe taking a stroll around the neighborhood might help my cold. BRRR was it cold out. It made me miss those 50 degree runs and walks I did while I was in Colorado! Speaking of Colorado, here are some pictures that I took on my vacation!

Alan walking his parents dog, Dusty through their neighborhood. I felt so bad with how much snow they had and Sirius, in Vermont, had none! NOT FAIR!

Along our walk we found some Mule Deer. The neighborhood that my in-laws live in have these deer ALL OVER THE PLACE. You basically couldn’t go anywhere without seeing at least 3 or 4!

See what I mean?

On December 26th (originally I put September and my amazing friend Monika pointed out that I still must be exhausted – YES I AM!)I did my Operation Jack satellite run. The satellite run was only a 10k but 6.2 miles at 6,700 feet high is HARD! Elevation is no joke!

Me starting my run. The scenery definitely kept me going!

Done – 57:12 and I couldn’t have been any happier!

For a Christmas present my in-laws got the whole family tickets to go see the Colorado Avalanche hockey game on the 29th. It was great to see the Avs at their home stadium (had been 4 years since the last home game we saw) but imagine my surprise when I ran into one of the players!!!!

Alan’s dad had a retirement party on the 1st and we were in charge of selecting the beer for the party. We went to this insane place called Tipsys. They had 6 coolers of “build your own 6 pack” on top of countless coolers of micro and macro brews. Alan had a hard time picking just a few. Good thing we needed to get 8 six packs or 48 beers….

Working on getting to the magic number for the party!

My father in law. He worked so hard and he deserves to be retired. It was so great being in Colorado to help with the party and to celebrate a great accomplishment in his career. As a gift, my mother in law had one of every business card he had framed. (he worked at the same company but with each new job title / promotion he received a new business card) Coolest idea ever!

After the party Dust, my in laws dog was exhausted. He was such a snuggler and I miss that little guy. He also had a Thunder Shirt on – if you have a dog that is anxious or crazy try this thing, it is AMAZING and really works miracles!

And after flying on a red eye and getting in at 11am we picked up our little (not so little) guy. Unfortunately he needed a thunder shirt himself as it seems he tried to burrow our of his suite while we were away and scraped his nose pretty badly.

Better look at the doofus’s nose!

So those are basically my pictures from my trip. I thought I took more than I really did and it makes me sad I wasn’t more on top of taking pictures. Next time!

As much fun as I had in Colorado, there is no place like home. I am glad that I am home one last day before reality sinks in. Although, I wish that it wasn’t because I was sick. Oh well. I am sure that tomorrow I will be back to work and back up running! Hope everyone had a great holiday season!

You must be tired… you listed September 26th as the day of your satellite run! I’m assuming you meant December! :)
